August 24th, 2017 – Riva Fouks and the Association of Children of the Holocaust invited two of our volunteers, Don and Martha, to Tzfat (Safed). There they attended the 30th annual Kleizmer Festival. Located in Galilee at 900 meters above the sea level, Tzfat is a known cultural center and a beautiful place with pleasant weather; it allows to view surrounding hills and fields because of its high elevation.
The volunteers were able to briefly meet the mayor and see the old city. The Kleizmer music is Survivors’ favorite because it brings back many memories. It has a unique effect on the attitudes of the people who gather to enjoy it together. No one seem to be unable to keep still when the music is playing and the musicians themselves seem to be putting all their heats into it.
